There are three Levels of hope.
1. No hope
2. Hope in this life only
3. Living hope
Simon (Hebrew) = “God has heard.”
Peter (Greek) = “Rock.”

Hosea 2:15 “And I will give her her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope…”
Hebrews 6:18 “That by two unchangeable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong encourage-ment, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul…”

“Hope is the confident expectation that God will do good on my behalf. He will do all that He has promised to do.”
Amaranth: I envy you for your beauty and your perfume and the joy you bring to so many.
Rose: yes, beauty and perfume and joy. I agree. But I must perish by an early death whereas you, the amaranth, have renewed youth; an undying flower.

“fades not away” = “amaranth” (in NT Greek)
Romans 15:13 “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

Love Without A Catch

John 13:34-35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-5: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
Luke 19:1-10 “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
Luke 6:32-35: “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that… But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.”
Living it Out This Week
*Listen to Understand, Not to Convert: When you are talking with someone who thinks differently than you do, put down your defensive shields. Don’t look for an opening to fix them or prove them wrong. Listen just to know their heart.
*Serve Anonymously: Find a way to bless someone this week who can never pay you back, and do it so they never find out it was you. Deliver a meal, pay for a stranger’s coffee, or do a chore for a coworker with zero expectation of a “thank you.”
*Extend Table Fellowship: Who is the “Zacchaeus” in your life? Who is the person isolated by their choices, their politics, or their lifestyle? Invite them into your space. Give them your presence without a hidden lecture waiting at the end of the meal.
Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Acts 9:3-5: As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him. “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
The World’s Explanations:
The Medical Explanation:
“He had an epileptic seizure or a heat stroke in the desert, and his brain hallucinated the whole thing.”
The Psychological Explanation:
“He felt so much subconscious guilt for killing Stephen that he had a mental breakdown and invented a coping mechanism.”
The Cynical Explanation:
“He was a power-hungry politician who realized Christianity was growing, so he switched sides to lead the movement.” “Lord, I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
No One Is Beyond Grace
First, no one is too far gone for the grace of God.
Second, true conversion will always look crazy to the world.
